Batangas Eastern Colleges celebrated its 81st Founding Anniversary with the theme: “Moving Forward with Resiliency…81 years of Legacy”. And as we honor the past, celebrate the present, and look ahead towards the future, the BEC Spirit evidently flourish throughout the years since the educational institution was established in 1940.
The BEC 81st Founding Anniversary was celebrated as a three-day event. And each day was set to bring a fun vibe and jam-packed with activities intended to manifest the sense of celebratory pride for the school’s long-standing history and tradition in consonance with its meaningful existence.
With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the school strictly complied with the Health & Safety Protocols. Despite the limitations, the solemnity of commemorating the BEC Foundation Day was upheld along with a sincere desire to recognize the commendable 81 years of being home of learning for every Beacon. After all, the devotion for instilling life in education speaks for the school’s catchphrase – “For the Love of Learning”.
The event officially began on February 03, 2021. A Thanksgiving Mass was held at the San Juan Nepomuceno Church. The Mass Homily was delivered by Fr. Peter Fancubilla.
It was then followed by the Floral Offering to pay tribute to the BEC Founder and philanthropist, Mrs. Mercedes Salud de Villa. It was participated by all BEC Teachers, Professors, and the Administrative Department.
Despite the limitations brought about by the pandemic, the school manage to bring the festive vibe to every Beacon at home through a Virtual Quiz Bee via the Google Meet platform. It was held to honor the long-standing tradition and history of the institution. There were two sessions, one for the current BEC students while the other one was the Alumni Edition. It was indeed a battle of wits wherein participants ignited their Beacon spirit through the series of questions. And each level tested their knowledge about BEC, as well as trivial facts only a Beacon would know.
On the last day of the event, an exclusive series of virtual games were organized for the Pamilyang BEC. Serving as a break from the busy working schedule, teachers from all departments and BEC employees enjoyed a fun-filled day along with a chance to win prizes. Everyone was also invited to showcase their grove through a Zumba dance party. The rest of the day was filled with exuberant vibe due the various games organized by the committee. Pamilyang BEC enjoyed charades, that is coupled with other virtual games like “Zoom In”, “Name that Tune”, “What Movie I Am In”, “Scavenger Hunt” and many more!
This year’s Foundation day may have been commemorated differently but the spirit lives on amidst the ongoing pandemic. Indeed, the resiliency of every Beacon is worth celebrating!
