On June 09, the Batangas Eastern Colleges community gathered at the BSTC Building (4th Floor) for the 5th Professional Learning Conference (PLC), an afternoon dedicated to reflection, professional development, and institutional strengthening. The event brought together members of the Academic and Administrative Departments, along with newly introduced employees, in a shared space of learning and collaboration.
Organized by the Human Resource and Development (HRD) Office, the conference aimed to reinforce BEC’s commitment to continuous improvement by equipping employees with relevant knowledge, fostering awareness of workplace policies, and encouraging a culture rooted in safety, respect, and unity.
One of the key highlights of the program was the discussion on Republic Act No. 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act. Facilitated by Atty. Ann Catherine R. Calingasan, the session provided a meaningful overview of the law’s purpose in addressing and preventing gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces, educational institutions, and workplaces. The discussion emphasized the importance of awareness, accountability, and proactive action in ensuring that every member of the institution feels safe and respected within the BEC community.
The learning continued with Session 2, which focused on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), led by School Administrator Sir Edison V. Dumo. This segment highlighted essential practices and institutional responsibilities that contribute to maintaining a safe working environment. Topics included hazard prevention, workplace safety standards, and the shared role of every employee in upholding a secure and healthy campus setting. The session reinforced that safety is not only a policy but a collective responsibility practiced daily.
Adding a moment of pride and unity to the program, the newly produced national anthem video was also showcased. First unveiled during the Technical-Vocational Center Graduation Ceremony, the video reflects the institution’s identity, values, and enduring commitment to excellence. Its presentation during the PLC served as a reminder of the shared pride and spirit that binds the Beacon community together.
The conference also welcomed new employees, formally introducing them to the growing BEC family. This moment underscored the institution’s continuous expansion and the importance of integration, collaboration, and shared purpose among all members of the community.
Beyond the individual sessions, the 5th Professional Learning Conference stood as a testament to Batangas Eastern Colleges’ commitment to lifelong learning and institutional growth. It served as a platform not only for knowledge-sharing but also for strengthening relationships across departments and reinforcing a unified vision for the future.
As one Beacon community, every learning opportunity becomes a step forward—toward a safer environment, a more informed workforce, and a stronger institution. Through initiatives like the PLC, Batangas Eastern Colleges continues to nurture a culture of excellence, responsibility, and empowerment that benefits both its people and the wider community it serves.
