Beacon students from theย College of Business recently embarked on an educational trip last March 14, 2024.ย This immersive journey was intended to deepen academic experiences and foster a greater knowledge of real-world applications.ย It was not just a break from routine lectures, nor an excursion to visit places. Rather it is an adventure and an insightful exploration into the heart of industry insights and professional dynamics.
The trip opened with a visit to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Students gained insight into complicated financial regulations and mechanistic market ways as well as engaging in discussions with industry experts. Corporate governance, investment strategies, and regulatory assurance all have nuances of differing handlings for different applications, after all, if a rule needs more than one interpretation then the rule no longer governs. But for many students this was the first time they had so concretely bridged the gap between theories learned in class and their application in practice.
The itinerary for the said trip provided enriching encounters filled with valuable insights and an interactive media tour on their next stop – the Philippine Star and Net 25 Studio! They’ve witnessed and got the chance to immerse themselves in the fast-paced environment or real-life happenings involved in news production, editorial decisions, and media dissemination. Plus, the behind-the-scenes look into media operations opened the gateway for debates on media ethics, including the role of journalists in the present state of our society, and the changing face of digital media. With these kinds of direct experiences, varying viewpoints were tackled, and paved the way for the students to have a deeper understanding of media literacy, which can be also critical for today’s business industries.ย Moreover, they had an opportunity for captivating discoveries at Quezon City Circle & Museum and the National Museum of Natural History. And at their last stop, they ended their trip by enjoying the fun yet frosty โSnow Worldโ adventure at the Star City Amusement Park!
