Official Launch of the Literacy Program 2023

Taking a leap forward in promoting literacy, particularly highlighting the need to develop reading comprehension and critical thinking skills, we are excited to share with you an innovative program that bridges the worlds of literature and moving pictures. This initiative aims to foster a deep appreciation for both written and visual storytelling, emphasizing the interconnectedness of these art forms and their profound impact on one’s love for learning.

The Learning Resource Center of Batangas Eastern Colleges, in partnership with Supling Sining and Sentro ng Wikang Filipino of UP Diliman, officially launched the Literacy Program last February 05, 2023, aligned with celebrating the 83rd Founding Anniversary of our beloved educational institution.

With the theme “Halina, Manood at Magbasa: Pagtuklas sa Magkaugnay na Mundo ng mga Kwento at Pelikula“, the program seeks to invite and engage students in an immersive learning experience, encouraging them to explore the rich narratives found in both books and documentary films. By integrating these two mediums, the program aims to enhance critical thinking skills, cultivate empathy, and broaden students’ horizons.

The launch event was a resounding success. Students, teachers, and other invited members of the BEC community gathered to witness the unveiling of this trailblazing endeavor. Not only it offers a variety of engaging activities and resources for students of all ages where students can delve into a carefully curated selection of books and documentary films. It aims to tackle a wide range of subjects, from History, Mathematics, English, and Science to social issues and environmental matters.

To encourage participation and foster a sense of community, the Literacy Program will run once a month (scheduled on Sunday) as it continues to dedicatedly promise to shape a new generation of culturally aware, empathetic, and well-rounded individuals, poised to make a positive impact in our increasingly interconnected world.
